Luke Chapter 1415 When one of those who reclined at table with him heard these things, he said to him, āBlessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!ā16 But he said to him, āA man once gave a great banquet and invited many.17 And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, āCome, for everything is now ready.ā18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, āI have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.ā19 And another said, āI have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.ā20 And another said, āI have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.ā21 So the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, āGo out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and crippled and blind and lame.ā22 And the servant said, āSir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.ā23 And the master said to the servant, āGo out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.24 For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.ā ā Luke Chapter 161 He also said to the disciples, āThere was a rich man who had a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions.2 And he called him and said to him, āWhat is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.ā3 And the manager said to himself, āWhat shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg.4 I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.ā5 So, summoning his masterās debtors one by one, he said to the first, āHow much do you owe my master?ā6 He said, āA hundred measures of oil.āHe said to him, āTake your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.ā7 Then he said to another, āAnd how much do you owe?āHe said, āA hundred measures of wheat.āHe said to him, āTake your bill, and write eighty.ā8 The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.9 And I tell you, make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the eternal dwellings.10 āOne who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.11 If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?12 And if you have not been faithful in that which is anotherās, who will give you that which is your own?13 No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.ā Matthew Chapter 221 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying,2 āThe kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son,3 and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.4 Again he sent other servants, saying, āTell those who are invited, See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.ā5 But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,6 while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them.7 The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.8 Then he said to his servants, āThe wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy.9 Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.ā10 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.11 āBut when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment.12 And he said to him, āFriend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?āAnd he was speechless.13 Then the king said to the attendants, āBind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.ā14 For many are called, but few are chosen.ā |
