John Chapter 1928 After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), āI thirst.ā29 A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, āIt is finished,ā and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Luke Chapter 2344 It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour,45 while the sunās light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.46 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, āFather, into your hands I commit my spirit!ā And having said this he breathed his last.47 Now when the centurion saw what had taken place, he praised God, saying, āCertainly this man was innocent!ā48 And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts.49 And all his acquaintances and the women who had followed him from Galilee stood at a distance watching these things. Mark Chapter 1533 And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, āEloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?ā which means, āMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?ā35 And some of the bystanders hearing it said, āBehold, he is calling Elijah.ā36 And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, āWait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.ā37 And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last.38 And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.39 And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, āTruly this man was the Son of God!ā40 There were also women looking on from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.41 When he was in Galilee, they followed him and ministered to him, and there were also many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem. Matthew Chapter 2745 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, āEli, Eli, lema sabachthani?ā that is, āMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?ā47 And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said, āThis man is calling Elijah.ā48 And one of them at once ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink.49 But the others said, āWait, let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.ā50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.51 And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.52 The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised,53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, āTruly this was the Son of God!ā55 There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him,56 among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee. |
