A New Start

Noah and his family stand on the cleansed earth after the flood, gathered near a smoking altar of sacrifice while the ark rests on the hillside behind them. Birds lift into the sky, animals begin to move across the renewed land, and a radiant rainbow arcs over the scene as the sign of God’s covenant. The composition portrays the solemn beginning of life after judgment: worship comes before rebuilding, and divine mercy frames the world’s new horizon. In the Genesis account, Noah’s offering rises to the Lord after leaving the ark, and God establishes His promise never again to destroy all flesh by flood, setting the rainbow as a covenant sign for every generation.
