The Costly Covering

Adam and Eve stand in the garden wearing garments of skin, their lowered faces and guarded posture showing the weight of sin after the Fall. The lush Eden setting remains around them, yet their innocence has been lost; the covering they now wear points to the first act of mercy after judgment. In Genesis 3:21, the Lord God makes garments of skin for the man and his wife and clothes them, replacing their inadequate fig-leaf covering with a costly provision.
