Joseph and His Father

Joseph, dressed in Egyptian authority and ceremonial finery, embraces his aged father Jacob at the entrance to Egypt. Around them stand family members, attendants, soldiers, horses, and a chariot, placing the reunion within the land of Goshen after years of separation. The tender meeting fulfills the promise that Jacob would see his beloved son again before death, revealing God’s providence through betrayal, famine, exile, and preservation. In Genesis 46, Joseph goes up in his chariot to meet Israel his father, falls on his neck, and weeps there a long while. The scene carries themes of reconciliation, restored family, divine guidance, and the faithful keeping of covenant promises as the household of Israel enters Egypt under God’s care.
