Elijah is in a secluded, rocky area. He is kneeling on the ground. His hands are clasped, and his head is bowed (as if he is praying). Judging by the color of the ground, it obviously has not rained in a while.
42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel. And he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees.
