Mephibosheth 2

Mephibosheth sits before an abundant royal meal, holding food in each hand as baskets of grapes, bread, melons, vessels, and a lamp fill the table around him. The scene portrays the gracious kindness shown to Jonathan’s son when King David welcomed him to eat continually at the king’s table. In the biblical account, David seeks a surviving member of Saul’s house so he can show covenant mercy for Jonathan’s sake. Mephibosheth, living with disability and expecting judgment, is instead restored, honored, and provided for as one of the king’s sons. The feast imagery emphasizes covenant loyalty, mercy, restoration, and the dignity given to the vulnerable through faithful love.
