Description
The unworthy servant stands under the stern rebuke of his master, his face lowered and troubled while the master reaches toward him in judgment. The close composition focuses on the confrontation at the heart of Jesus’ Parable of the Talents, where a servant hides what was entrusted to him instead of using it faithfully. In Matthew 25, the master condemns the servant not for lacking ability, but for fear, sloth, and unfaithfulness with a gift already placed in his hands. The scene carries a clear teaching for stewardship, discipleship, accountability, and the coming reckoning before God: what belongs to the Master must be used in obedient service, not buried in fear.
